As I am always saying to people this is all very new science and even this article is 18months old . Progess has been sporadic and as far as I can see most developments have merely reduced the work load on the operator rather than drastically improve outcomes.

Ten years ago during a talk on this subject I opined that if you compare ablation to aviation then we were around the first world war in development not even having reached monoplanes or the jet age . Maybe we are now about level with a Spitfire?

If the article is so old you can guarantee the technology is a lot older. As far as I can tell it talks about the balloon method which is not suitable for many people and it’s main contribution is to lessen damage to the esophagus.
