Hi, Lizty back again. Had a successful ablation a year and a half ago, and life improved immensely. However, I have had the occasional scare since then, so bought a Kardia Alivecor to keep a check on things. My EP supported me in this. So after a couple of short but funny turns last year, I tracked a bad one in November. I didn't really need the Kardia to tell me I might have been in Afib, as my cheek and shoulder always hurt during an attack and I can feel my pulse go crazy. Fortunately it only lasted about 30 minutes and the reading was 'possible afib' Well, today was my annual check up and when my EP saw my Kardia ECG, he said that yes, I had been in afib. We agree that as I am only having occasional attacks, that we will see how it goes. Has anyone else had the same experience? I am hoping that I can live with occasional short attacks, but hope they don't get worse again. Obviously! I will see my EP again in six months. Meanwhile I am back at the gym but taking exercise very slowly. I think if I can get a bit fitter, it might help my muscles take the pressure off my heart!

My situation is very similar Lizty, with 4 episodes since last September. I can account for the first 2, likely due to stress, but the latter two just happened. Like you, monitoring progress, but remaining on a very long waiting list for a second ablation, so I will be making some important decisions later in the year. I'm quite sure that we can do a lot minimise problems, but I'm also sure that the ticker also has a mind of it's own.......

Thanks for your concern Pilgrim, no appetite in the mornings but as the day goes on gets a little better. I am away for a couple of nights short break with hubby at the moment in Oxford, so that helps to keep my mind on other things which is helpful. Find I am worse when at home.
thanks for replying Flapjack. I can account for each of the ones I have had, except the last one which I did actually put down to stress. The others were set off by the usual triggers.... although one oddly, was caused by having an ice-cream during the interval at the theatre! Consultant did not mention a second ablation, but as it is all down to 'Quality of Life....' we are going to wait and see ....
Yes, I have episodes - now nearly 4 years post abltion - but they aren’t nearly as symptomatic nor last as long as they used to. I can also often stop them with vasovagal before they get a hold and have learned just what can trigger episodes.
Thanks CDreamer. That is a very reassuring response.... and I am hoping that that is all I will have to contend with. My EP recommended that I go back on bisoprolol tabs, but I am keeping those for PIP.... any more than that and my bp hits the floor. He also suggested that perhaps a number of people might have isolated incidents post ablation..... but don't bother following it up; or don't have the Kardia app to confirm them. Hmm....
I had an ablation which, in the main was successful. I am helped by taking 60 mg Tildiem, that is helping me avoid any return to AF. Conversely I am also on Phyllocontin for an unrelated condition which MAY cause AF. So far so good and I am ok.
