Echocardiogram tomorrow...

Well, finally the day has come.... I have my echocardiogram tomorrow and see the Cardiologist the week after.

Ooh how things have changed since those appointments were booked back in November 2018.

I remember coming out of my first Cardiologist appt in November feeling shattered. He’d put me on the list for a Cardioversion and had said ‘about 4/6 month wait’ and told me to book a follow up with him and an echocardiogram. I walked out of his room miserably to the reception.... Then the woman said June is the earliest she had for Echocardiogram.... I was like WTF?? In my head. I said to her, thanks..... and walked off shellshocked by the lack of any action. June seemed an age away.

A horrible time.

However as some people may know.... I had my Cardioversion on January 17th 2019. I went back into NSR and have been there ever since!

I still take the drugs, no issues with that. I’ve changed my lifestyle and now am looking forward to seeing the Cardiologist next week.

Obviously it depends on what the Echocardiogram shows I suppose but I feel hopeful.

A far cry from the miserable day last November!!

Dr. Sanjay Gupta at York Cardiology does a YouTube video on an echo. You may wish to take a look at it if you have not.

Happy days ;-)

I think (for me) some life style changes / right med`s / exercise are key to staying in sinus after a CV.

Best,

Paul

Good to hear things are much improved for you. I amazes me how we are given apps for tests and consultants way into the future as though that's all very normal. It shouldn't be like that, the system should be sufficiently funded and robust to help us regain health not languish suffering waiting for apps long in the future. Good luck with your forthcoming echo and consultant app.

Thanks Meadfoot.... yeah unless you’re rich and go private..... not an option for me!

That's dreadful that you've had to wait all that time for your echocardiogram! Hope it shows that all is well, make sure you let us know.

Jean

Thanks everyone.... I’ll let you know how it goes!

I’ve had it done now. Just waiting a week for the results now. He did say ‘no clots’...

I should bloody hope so!!

I’m at the Atkinson Morley at St George’s, London.

Lot of people with heart problems I think.

So, it took 2 months to get cardioversion??

in reply toT8746

Yes and I was diagnosed in September 2018, so 2 months to get Cardiologist appt.

4 months of pure misery that was.

I have had 3 echocardiograms in recent weeks (2 failed tests not sure if the 3rd test worked?? I had fast HR at 130 Bpm bisoprolol increased gradually to 10mg too. Still didn't slow hr down although manual pulse was 70 bpm (think my irregular heart beat had given bad readings via ecg! Perplexed Waiting to see the consultant next week for some information. Reducing my bisoprolol to 7.5mg under doctors guidance. Hopefully zombie like symptoms will go away!!
