blood pressure linked to weight in Chinese study

"In the ongoing study of 1.7 million Chinese men and women being conducted by researchers at the Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) in China, individuals who were not taking an antihypertensive medication, were observed with an increase of 0.8 to 1.7 mm Hg (kg/m2) in blood pressure per additional unit of body mass index (BMI)".

I am taking this message to heart and it has given me a push to get my weight down. Hopefully I can knock my weight down by 3 BMI units. According to these figures this should drop my BP by between 2.4 to 5.1 points, with the aim of getting away from taking BP pills in the longer term.

Another nail in the coffin of obesity? I doubt it but we do know that a BMI of 25 or lower is ideal.

I am a retired nurse and overweight but I run a low blood pressure. So did my mother. I believe a larger percentage of it is genetics. I saw over the yrs where hypertension ran in families. I take after my mother who always ran low.
