Having just trawled the internet on this subject for ten minutes all I can find is for anual checks of renal function . Liver condition should be assessed before prescribing the drug apparently (How often does that happen?)

My practise test every year for a variety of conditions including lipids, Liver and Kidney at the same time of year as my seven day BP chart is done. usually the month of my birth. Don't all surgeries?

I have pinged a message to the office to see if there are written guidelines and will report.

I just started taking Eliquis 2 months ago. My doctor did not mention testing for for liver and kidney function? This concerns me, I am calling his office tomorrow.

No Bob, they don't. Wish they did.

Hi. I have just been tested after 3 months but I don’t know how frequently it will be in the future. I will keep you posted.

I was tested annually for four years, then was told last year that tests would be done every six months. A couple of us think the change must have been triggered by something . . I see my GP next month and will see if he is forthcoming.

If offered it, go for six monthly. 🙂

I think it may be yearly but more often if there is doubt or if age comes into it- and other conditions that might mean change has occurred. There is some debate at present about levels to consider for kidney function which may have blurred the picture too

I have a comprehensive set of tests every six months including liver and kidney function but also a whole range of other tests. My recent set of tests picked up a Vitamin D deficiency and haemoglobin slightly below the normal range but the rest of the full blood count, bone profile, and serum lipids were all within normal range. I quote these figures to show that I am lucky to have an excellent GP who ensures that any problems are caught at the earliest stage.
