I stopped it after 30 days with doctor’s ok. It exacerbated a cough terribly and didn’t really stop breakthrough AFib attacks while still making me feel like I was trudging through mud.

Don’t miss it a bit. You might want to check out a website maintained by a Dr. John Mandrola. He is a USA electro physiologist who is based in Louisville Ky and is pretty well known. He hates Multaq because he thinks it is ineffective and has nasty side effects. This guy is not an anti Pharma wacko but he IS a skeptic.

Multaq (Dronedarone) was the great new hope when it arrived on the scene. In fact I took part in a film about AF and a number of radio inteviews on launch date in UK as well as giving a number of talks about AF to Sanofi Aventis staff but I have never taken it . For a number of reasons it soon fell out of favour here in UK although I have noted the occasional re-emergence from time to time. One problem was that so great was the demand for it from patients that quite a few unsuitable patients managed to badger their doctors into prescribing it which resulted in some bad happenings. In US this created a lot of bad publicity as you can imagine.

No problems stopping. Multaq does not really work. I have had several Cardiologists tell me that. I’m surprised it is still being marketed. However other anti-arythmic drugs Sotalol and Amioderone are no treat.

Stopped it several times after ablations 2, 3 & 3. No issues. Took a while for it to be out of my symptoms.

Originally I was on it as the regime of Bisoprolol and Flecanide or taking Soltalol wasn't keeping my AF episodes at bay. I was on it for 4-6 months at a time with regular Liver Function tests but these ceased when I stopped it.

*Edit Sorry plopper was getting my wires crossed with Anti-coagulation replies on other threads
