Going back into AF after a year

Has anyone gone back into AF when they have had a virus? My husband also got numerous coldsores and was using cream treatment to help heal them. Was wondering if this had contributed to him slipping back into abnormal rythm?? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Any inflammation in the body can set it off. I would hope once your virus has gone you will return to "normal" .

After almost 2 years with no symptoms, afib returned after I had the flu and pneumonia. A few weeks have passed and afib symptoms have greatly lessened. Not back to pre illness condition, but heading on that direction. I was advised that infection can trigger afib.

Yes happened to me. 3 weeks after ablation 1 I had a virus which put me back into 'aggressive AF' they called it. This needed a second procedure to deal with it. Probably the EP had not got it quite right and a second was going to be called for but the virus 'kicked it off again.'

Make sure they do T3, T4, and TSH. Routine is to do just a TSH which can be unreliable.

Yes this happened to me last year, After my second ablation I was in sinus rhythm for a wonderful 18 months then got a virus in December and was back in permanent AF. It’s nowhere near as bad as before but the GPS first question was to ask if I’d had a virus. I was completely unaware that this could cause AF to come back. Hope he’s okay.

Hi, I too have been told I have a virus (am tired with a cold feeling too). Was checked out in A&E as I had some different arrhythmias (bi/trigeminy), which has kind of knocked me for six.

I had an ablation early March, have been told this is normal whilst it’s settling down.

Regards

Craig
