How long do afib attacks last and how frequently?
Afib: How long do afib attacks last and... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Afib
String? Length of? We are all different and some people are in permanent AF so it really is an impossible question to answer.
Hi, sometimes they go away on there own but normally they can be treated in hospital using cardio-version. I have had this a number of times. AF is a pain in the butt and it occurs due to the heart chambers not working or the electrical charges in the heart not firing in sync.
Ablation can be tried and may be very successful. Its a fairly simple procedure and done in a day as an out patient. My AF is occurring more frequently as I get older and my heart starts to weaken. I am going to have another go at ablation once the specialist is sure that he can help. Some areas of the heart are more difficult to get to and there are a variety of ways.
If its starting to be a regular thing and you are worried then be persistant with your GP and specialist. They will probably give you aspirin.
Everybody’s heart is different. There is no regularity or standard to Afib occurrences unless you have persistent (all the time) Afib. Then you just have it.
Hi some AF attacks go away on their own as do atrial flutter ones but in my own experience I have had both cardio-version and in one instance ablation yet they have come back. I am fotunate in having an aortic metal valve so I can hear every beat and that lets me know I need to go to either my GP or A&E.
If you feel something is not right then take action asap and not wait in hope it will go way naturally
I have AF episodes every day often several times a day , They can last for 10 minutes or up to 3 or 4 hours ....it drives me mad . Am awaiting 2nd ablation but have been "on the list" since last July.
.
Most of my episodes only last about a minute........at the moment!
A few seconds to permanently in AF.
Mine are random with no clear idea on triggers:
April 2018 - 2
July 2018 - 3
November 2018 - 2
None since!
Yours will be different, but mine seem always to last about 8 - 12 hours, and stop themselves in the small hours of the morning after dozing off or sleeping. The stopping seems to wake me up.
Everyone's A Fib is different. My last two episodes have lasted about 12 days, which I think means I have Persistent A Fib. GP could only suggest taking a large dose of Bisoprolol to ensure my heart rate remained around 70bpm. My A Fib episodes occur about every two months, but most of the time I am, fortunately, in normal sinus rhythm. Hopefully, your
A Fib will be infrequent and last for a short time. Good luck with this crazy condition!!
I used to have an AF attack every few months lasting a full 12 hours then as time has gone on I started getting horrendous attacks every week lasting 2 full days I couldn’t leave the sofa as the dizziness was so bad I was stuck for days! Then the cardiologist put me on Flecainide which has helped massively, I have just had an ablation 3 weeks ago but until I start coming of all heart meds won’t know if it was been a success . I think everyone is different
