New Dr Gupta Video: Is my abnormal heart rhythm dangerous?
As usual, for our lovely Dr Sanjay, the safety of different heart rhythms explained in a way which we can clearly understand. Hope this video re-assures a lot of people.

Hate to say it but in many of the videos there is still the "pat on the head nothing wrong dear" message which is what many of us have to deal with, in my case having been patted on the head for years by Cardiologists I'm now being proved right, I do have something wrong that needs fixing.
Sorry to disagree Bantam I don't find Dr Gupta a 'pat on the head' type of Doctor but informative, matter of fact and reassuring.
Reassuring is the word I dislike the most, it's in no way reassuring to be told "normal, nothing wrong, perfectly normal, nothing to worry about blah blah blah when clearly symptoms are not normal and are disrupting life, it's as if saying the words will miraculously make the daily debilitating symptoms disappear like magic !
I refused to accept my last pat on the head and I am now being taken seriously and may well be heading towards needing an ablation or pacemaker.
I can relate to your frustration about feeling dismissed by cardiologists. I’ve been screamed at, told I’d never work again if I didn’t immediately get on the list for an ablation, and cried all the way home from an appointment in which every concern had been summarily and condescendingly dismissed. Oh, and I got the “it’s just a nuisance” line, too.
After those horrid experiences, Dr. Gupta was a breath of fresh air for me in that he even attempted to educate any of us!!!
My last EP says that AF is just a mystery...absolutely nothing to do to have any influence on whether you have an episode....and I got the vague and insincere “keep your stress down!”
I think it’s helpful to keep in mind that what Dr. Gupta is doing is revolutionary and comes from an entirely different mindset than what I and probably many others have experienced.
Like, gee, how about if we don’t actually terrify the patient? Novel concept!!😂
The only thing that has made a significant difference in my quality of life has been digging into the work of Dr. Stephen Sinatra, on Metabolic Cardiology, getting tested for underlying conditions, and seeing a naturopath. I’ve written elsewhere about it.
Where I stand now is that cardios and EPs play, of course, an important role in treating AF, but the narrowness of their focus in treating a chronic condition, failure to think holistically in even the smallest way, and the dismissiveness can be downright dangerous.
I encourage you to keep looking for practitioners you trust and solutions that work for you. It’s really a major challenge in dealing with AF, in my opinion.
I disagree, that's not the case in Dr Gupta's videos! Did you watch it to the end when he clearly defines when abnormal rhythms are of concern?
I have watched many many of his videos and even thought of contacting him for advice but the prospect of another " reassuring" reply was not going to help me.
Obviously we all have different experiences in our health struggles and mine in Cardiology have not be good.
I agree his videos are informative but the underlying dismissive approach is not helpful to many people.
Thanks for posting this doodle, it's so good to have the facts explained clearly. Sanjay Gupta and this forum have helped me no end to understand this chronic condition and to get on with life armed with both personal experience and expert knowledge. Thank goodness we can get that reassurance when we're feeling needlessly scared x
A very simple explanation.. I immediately felt better after suffering for many days with AF albiet slow. I can feel every beat .I have have felt so down. Usually have PAF but this has not gone away.Despite doubling up on Nebivolol dose no change in rhythm very wearing and the anxiety has been awful.Hope that I get back to normal soon.
Again he knocked it out of the park explaining it " plainly "... Good job.
