After everything that as happened my gp has decided to start me on amlopodine 5mg he increased it to 10 mg 2 weeks ago I now have swollen ankles swollen legs . Feel as though my face is red hot and have itchy rash as well . I also feel quite breathless .
Considering I'm already on 10 mg ramipril and 5 mg bisoporol and the latest micra defibrillator implant which keeps my heart rate quite low these tabs seem to be going against it . Will be phoning him on Monday
Amlodopine is a calcium channel blocker and does that to me. It is fluid retention and not a great idea. My notes now make it clear never to prescribe them for me.
I will be saying to my G. P. That I'm not prepared to feel like this ... considering I have a low kidney function as well ..thank you for your reply I was relieved to hear it has happened to other people. .
Hi Moses, now if it was me with the problem you have from the effects of your drugs, I'd want something done today. I'd be ringing the 111 no for advice or going to see the emergency duty GP (not A&E). Whatever you do, don't just stop taking this drug or you can cause health problems.
Side effects of pills - honestly at times I could swear!
I agree with Jeanjennie- you may be having an allergic reaction, particularly if your breathing is also affected, so need to be checked by a doctor who can decide re your meds. Make sure you do this today even if it means going to local A and E
Thank you for your advice .. I have reduced the dose down to 5mg we are on holiday break this weekend .although today I am relaxing in the caravan .. going home early tomorrow so will phone 111 tomorrow xx when If I need to go in I will be near my local hospital xx
I take Ramapril, Bisoprol Fumerate and Amlodopine among others. Felt awful for years but told must stay on them. No energy etc. A comment in passing by doc asking if I had ever been tested to see if I was Gluten intolerant had me trying a gluten free diet. Result I am happier and more energetic than ever. It took 59 years to find out that info. I have been on the meds for decades.
The reason for the story is that we are all individuals and react to meds etc differently. For years they blamed tiredness etc on my meds and or my condition. So can I advise you, not really, but remind them you are an individual and what works for others may not be for you.
If you have a rash, and it just started after starting the amlodipine, you should call doc and stop the drug- could be a sign of a serious skin reaction called Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Continuing the drug even a few days could make it a lot worse- your body is trying to tell you something.
