Palpitations is a catch all term which just means that you are aware of your heart. It does not refer to any specific arrhythmia.

Atrial fibrillation, the most common arrhythmia is an irregular and irregular non rhythm which can be slow but more often fast. people vary in how they feel it and some never do being totally asymptomatic but rates as high as 220 bpm have been reported. AF is easliy seen on an ECG.
