Pacemaker checkup
Hi Jo letter being sent to cardiologist from pacer ..don’t have appointment until April to see EP ..hope to get meds adjusted before then. Still breathless..are the tabs you’re on helping bring down your tacky ?
Hi Zezee. Did she say 'battery energy' or 'battery rate'? Probably meant rate.
It is usual when implanting a pacemaker to set the rate on 80 beats per minute (bpm) when it's put in. Then at the 6 week check up in the pacemaker lab they tweak it if necessary, sometimes asking you while the magnet is on your chest and they are making adjustments questions such as do you feel dizzy, etc? Based on how you feel they make rate adjustments frequently lowering the rate to 70. Most people seem to do well at this rate. It may take you a few days to adjust to a different, possibly lower rate, BUT if you continue to feel strange in any way-esp dizzy or lightheaded, call right away. You may need your rate adjusted again.
I hope they explained all this to you-often patients are not told all they need to know.
Often procedures are so routine to the caregivers they forget to tell patients basic facts and instructions they have no way of knowing. Please speak up if anything doesn't feel right. Changes to your pacemaker are easily made in the office.
Take care. I've had a pacemaker since 2016. His name is Seymour.

I wonder if the technician was referring to the pacemaker threshold when she used the term “energy”. I can’t pretend to fully understand this, but it looks like fun 🙂
A tad too technical for us 😧
