Bisoprolol 1.25 mg

Hi all I thought I would join this group as needed advice. I have had PAF and narrow complex tachacardia not sure if same thing! Been 8 years since e my ablation and it’s come back with a vengeance and it’s so frustrating always when you least expect it , bang just like that fast heart and sometimes irregular and I have passed out on accaions and picked up by ambulance now been out on Bisoprolol 1.25 to start then they want me on 2.5 and I have flacainide in my pocket if I have bad episode to stop it. The beta blockers is making me so so tired I have a cough and my skin has become itchy all over at night ! I know tiredness is normal but is the cough and itchy skin ! As such a low dose could I just stop them as sick of feeling this tired

Nebivolol is a beta blocker which many people find less troublesome than Bisoprolol. Others have had success with Diltiazem or Verapamil for rate control in AF. Not sure whether they are suitable long term with narrow complex tachycardia (SVT) but I think are used IV.

I was recently diagnosed with AF after suffering a surprise attack and managed to have an ECG while it was ongoing. Seems that I had an attack while we were in Ireland last year but by the time I got to Galway University Hospital it had passed and I was back to normal. They kept me in the hospital under strict observation by Cardiologists but could not prove AF. Had all the tests Valves etc. Recommended I have an angiogram when back in UK. As a precaution they put me on 25mg Metoprolol 3 times per day. I was very tolerant to that no bad side effects.

After my recent attack the UK hospital changed me to 2.5mg Bisoprolol. I suffered many side effects. Dropped down to 1.25/day after 48 hours. still had bad side effects. On advice of my Cardiologist went back on 3 x 25mg Bisoprolol. What a relief.

I wouldn't stop them without advice from Cardiologist but I would insist they change them. Bisoprolol doesn't do well with some people. I was so lethargic it was like walking through treacle. I am on Atenolol now and the difference is night and day. Discuss it with your professional, you shouldn't have to suffer. Good luck

Hi, I have the same lethargy that you describe and wondered if it might be the side effects of taking 5mg of Bisoprolol daily. I have discussed same with the Arrhythmia Nurse and requested a change of medication. She insists that I would be risking different side effects to a change of medication and therefore is reluctant to recommend same. I will see her in March but hate the thought of feeling so lethargic. Moan over! 😏

Yes Bisoprolol can be very debilitating, you display all the side effects of this drug.

I refuse to take it for those same reasons and feel fine now. Go carefully we're all different.

It is not a good idea to stop Bisoprolol suddenly. If you cannot get changed t o smething that suits you better you could try weaning off very slowly. I take half a 1.25mg at night and this has cut the side effects a lot. Eventually I will start taking it every other day and gradually taper off. I have done this before even though cardiologist said then I could just stop the 1.25 mg. The body gets used to Bisoprolol and needs time to get unused to it. Some people get rebound fast heart rate and anxiety if they stop too quickly

Suggest investigate 10ml cold pressed virgin olive oil and 800mg Co-enzyme Q10 daily. I am on 10mg Bisoprolol, and since supplementing with oil and Q10 every day have normal beat with occasional palpitations. Mind you, everybody is different!

agree, it's a strong drug, I was put on it, and even had hallucinations. am now on digoxin, but 6.25 not 12.50 as was losing balance and feeling depressed. Doctors prescribe by rote, and each individual's needs are different. I often wonder we need these betablockers at all
