I don't like amiodarone

Good Evening

just wanted to say I have been taking amiodarone for a month, my Doctor tried to reduce the dosage and nothing has worked I have trouble sleeping at night but can't seem to stay awake in the daytime for long periods of time. And the cough I have is awful. So me and my A Fib are being taken off of it as of today and my Dr. is going to put me on something else.

I'm with you - I couldn't tolerate amiodarone at all - had all kinds of side effects - ask them for an alternative

Good, this drug should not be given to anyone IMO

My last resort drug pre 1st ablation way back in 2005. Hated it and left me with nasty thyroid problems.

Yippee! I hate that drug, so am pleased for you.

Many forum members here find Flecainide along with a beta blocker very efficient, but I think only a consultant can prescribe that drug.

I can see it has it’s uses - as a drug of very last resort.

My husband will probably be starting on it next month but in his case I can see that short term use prior to possible Cardioversion may work.

I certainly refused even trying it.

Sometimes you have to try horrible meds just so you can say you took the Doc's advice - some docs wash their hands of you if you don't. But very glad you are able to come off it.
