Just a quick one. I was reading something on Facebook last night about a woman trying to make ladies aware of heart attack symptoms and how they differ from mens symptoms.
Trouble is, the way she described hers was exactly the same as an "episode" I had a couple of weeks back (coughing fit, extreme difficulty breathing and a terrific painful stinging cramping sensation in my upper arms, across my shoulders and all across my chest). Never felt anything like it! Probably only lasted a minute but I lay on the bed for a good 5 minutes until the stinging had completely gone.
I think this was the day I was considering stopping taking my meds so I could take cold/flu remedies after that happened.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this. My heart was racing for ages after, then slowed right down.
Off to see my consultant on Friday. Should I mention it, or was it just a "spasm"?!
Any advice would be appreciated. TIA.

The only way to know is to have blood tests and ECG ASAP after the event. Please do mention to your consultant on Friday and personally I would go see your doctor as soon as possible for a check-up and explain what happened. If it was a heart attack you may be more susceptible for another but there are actions you can take to lessen the possiibility.
I would seriously caution against taking any cold and flu meds - whatever your medication - as they can seriously affect your heart if you suffer Arrythmias.
Hello CDreamer would you please tell me how your pacemaker is doing I am now on waiting list 12 weeks apparently...no q.o.l last option I’m told... can you explain how you felt getting it..how long did it take and how did you feel after having it all...regards Celia x
I’ll PM you later with details but generally I am feeling a lot better, only a couple of short episodes of AF and my HR although increased didn’t go above 120 and I was able to function almost normally through most of it.
It’s really difficult for me as I have complex issues so knowing which disease causes which symptom is guesswork.
Heart attacks can present with unusual symptoms, and very occasionally with no symptoms at all, though this tends to be in very elderly people. Suggest you discuss with the consultant.
Although I agree that should be mentioned to your consultant that doesn't sound like a heart attack to me. Usually if you have a heart attack, silent or otherwise, you feel ill for days. I have had a suspected heart attack, though no clot was found, and the pain I had was a sensation of an overenthusiastic hug inside my chest. It comes with nausea, lightheadedness and exhaustion. If you have had an MI in the past your ECG will show signs of it (mine comes up as 'possible MI'). Dr Gupta posted a video on how to recognise heart pain which was very good and explains how you could mistake heart pain for indigestion and vice versa.
Hopefully the pain will have been caused by your cough but you will soon find out. Please let us know how you get on 💜
