Getting used to afib

Hi all,

I don't get how when I'm sat at rest my heart beats in 3's/4's and I feel like crap. Yet if I exert or exercise over long periods my heart feels ok. I'm not in AF at the minute. Parysoxmal. Also i get left neck pain a lot. Are these things normal for af?

Tia.

Ali.

Typical

When at rest the chaos can get into the gaps particularly Ectopics. When the heart is going even but faster there are not so many opportunities for this to happen.

That is my experience.

This could be vagal AF. The left neck pain may indicate that you need to see a chiropractor. In my experience a misaligned neck and back can cause AF episodes.

I'm gradually coming to the conclusion that when we are sat still we sometimes forget to breathe properly!

When I get out of bed in the night now, I just sit for a few seconds beforehand (no leaping out now-days) and always make sure I'm breathing deeply. I do the deep breathing when I get back into bed too. The same can happen when we are sat watching t.v. or online, just try to remember to breathe and see if that helps.

Best wishes

Jean

Spot on. I often catch myself breath holding and my AF becoming briefly more erratic 🙂

May I suggest you look at the STARS & PoTS page of the Arrythmia Alliance website. There are some reasons/conditions which may explain your symptoms and connect with your neck pain which may be worth checking out. There are some conditions associated with arrythmias which do need further exploration.

I’m sorry I can’t get onto the page myself at the moment but as and when I find it I will post.

From my reading on this forum, I don't think that there IS a 'normal for AF'!

Could this be your situation?

If link not working, google vagal af. This page should come up first

The comments section may be helpful too.
