Hi all I just wondered if anyone had seen this article and knew anything more?

New drug on the horizon AP30663
Hadn't heard of this. Sounds hopeful.
this has been mentioned on this forum previously if you search back. Stage 1 clinical trials are very very early so if the drug does prove to be effective it’s likely to be a few years before it hits market. an interesting approach however
This was mentioned a week or two back and the general consensus is that it may be available in ten to twenty years time IF it passes human trials. In the fifteen years I have been around AF there have been many supposed "magic bullets" discovered so I never get too exited about these things. It will all be far too late for most of us. lol
Possibly good news for your grandchildren.....
Good to see that companies are working on AF treatments. That being said, this is a phase one study which means that it is only being tested in a small population size and for safety only. Very early on in development. If the drug is shown to be safe in phase 1, then larger trials will be conducted to assess efficacy (ie impact on AF). This is a bit too early stage to get excited about as it has only been tested in animals thus far.
Hopefully, they will make good progress. There certainly is a large market of AF sufferers.
Shame they cant speed it up. I am guessing they could get it to market quicker if they really wanted to and could see the dollars at the end of the tunnel
And therein lies the problem - let’s not speed up up any safety screening for the sake of $$$$ signs.
Hi CDreamer, I was actually saying the opposite which is we are slow to bring new drugs to market because we want to squeeze every penny out of current drugs and patents. (I do agree with you on safety of course). It's just that I do think that we are more advanced then we tend to believe but the process and corporatization tends to stifle us as well.
