Hi all

Under a lot of stress at the moment, haven’t felt well the last 24 hours.

I just did my pulse and it was going between 60 and 150 this lasted for about a min done twice since and a steady 52.

Question was this af or could it be Svt. Not sure what the difference is but I have been diagnosed with both.

Feeling really scared now.

Thanks

Deb

Thank you Relim I feel better than I did but very anxious about going into a full blown afib episode

What has happened before when you have had AF?

Only had one attack spent four days in hospital

That would be unwelcome. Some of us are very much affected by AF and others less so. There are those who are have AF - occasionally or all the time - and are unaware of it.

The thing is, when it knocks at the door it does wake us up and encourages us to toe the line, look at diet, sleep, stress and lifestyle and this is no bad thing.

Relim I have given myself a talking to. My husband was about to lose his job and I allowed myself to get stupidly uptight. I already have to watch my diet lifestyle as I am diabetic. I just don’t seem to have the emotional stamina that I used to have. However I am also a lady of a certain age!

Things that crop up and disrupt our lives are not always as bad as we may think they are at the time.

I do meditation on a Thursday at work but I am not very good at it as I am naturally an anxious person and I struggle not to worry about everything.

I find hard to quite mind and thoughts with meditaction, I use the senses when anxious that takes mind off thinking like 5 things can hear, 5 touch, 5 smell, 5 can see and 5 taste.. then 4 ect.. its har d to think about anything ele w hen doing this and you can do it anywhere if 5 things t much start with 3? I guess it finding a couple things tgat wrk for you anxiety horrible on top of wgat your goi ng through.. wish you well

I was seeing a consultant but he has referred me back to gp. He took me of rivaroxiban as he said I had a 50/50 chance of it returning.

Are you waking up in the morning refreshed? Sleep issues are I believe an important contributory factor to AF. I do 45 mins meditation, exercise & prayer before going to bed, as well as using a nasal strip as my upper airways are not very clear. I also got yesterday from the dentist a guard for my bottom front teeth as I tend to grind my teeth in my sleep - haven't tried it yet but hope it will help??

Totally agree about sleep issues, and greatly underestimated, having just been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea ( after 7 years of struggling with AF ) after 5 weeks on my CPAP machine I have gone done from 68 episodes an hour to my best last night ( with a new chin strap and nose pillows ) of 2.5 an hour and feel really refreshed and positive ( at last) .

Yes I do struggle with sleep. I am also diabetic so it affects my blood sugars. I am going to put some relaxing music on and try and relax. I think I get into a cycle of anxiety. I have meditation today so see if I can get on top of it today rather than me feeling out of control
