Hi can these two be taken at the same time??
Apixaban and Solatol: Hi can these two... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Apixaban and Solatol
One is an anticoagulant the other (sotalol) is a combined beta blocker and rhythm control drug but is not generally used here in UK so while I cant see any reason why not it is best to speak to your pharmacist.
Thank you Bob I start the sotalol tomorrow so will ask at the chemist when I pick it up !!
When your pharmacist tells you why, would you mind sharing. I'm on low dose.
Hi Edm 174 I m on both meds and take @same time 5mg Eliquis and 80mg Sotalol. I was in hospital for 3days for Sotalol loading in case of torsade de pointes I was scared to put it mildly but a brill cardiac nurse helped. As I understand it you have to be in hospital with cardiac care for Sotalol loading(term used by cardio)as there is a risk of t de p. I dont mean to scare you but please check it out. Best of luck.
I am in the US and take both of these medications twice day. I have had no problems.
I take them both together twice a day
Thank you Diane I will take mine both together that way I won’t miss any I hope !!!
Yes I take mine both together twice daily.(I'm in UK )
Thank you cat I’m in the uk too !! My sotalol not ready at chemist until after lunch so will just get the first dose tonight !!! Have you had any side effects???
Yes, my dispensary took a day or two to stock Sotalol. My EP changed me from bisoprolol & digoxin to Sotalol last November following emergency admission to hosp with AF and the only side effects I notice are occassional abdominal cramps and bowel urgency/loose stools. I also get the usual beta blocker side effects of mild chest pain and breathlessness, heavy heart beat, but had these with bisoprolol. You should get a lower heart rate if you have not been on beta blockers before and it should stop irregular heart beats/AF too.
I am now on the waiting list for pulmonary vein isolation/ganglionic plexi ablation then will come off the Sotalol but carry it with me for any breakthrough AF '' as it is known to me to be effective ''(quote arrhythmia nurse)

BobD always says that Sotalol isn't recommended by NICE but the above link refers to its use for prophylaxis of AF.
Hi they changing my bisoprosol to sotalol ready for cardioversion in sept hoping it might keep me in rhythm!!!!
It's doing ok for me, just a couple of AF episodes (2 hours only) since starting on it last Nov. Fingers crossed for a good result for you next month 😊
My EP in an exemplary cardiac hospital did an ablation on a node to nowhere for SVT .....only Rx is 40 mg BID Sotalol and 2 baby aspirin. Can't distinguish side effects of ablation from side effects of Rx from side effects of diverticulitis after ablation. Learning to dance at outdoor concerts on good days and not analyze bad days.
Yes I take both together.
Thank you cat will read up on it !!
