Hints on CKD management would be appreciated

Hi there, I am 71 and also have CKD with an Egfr between 50 and 60 and was told by my GP that as long as my BP was within normal limits it was nothing to worry about. It is something that happens as we get older. Take care.
Many thanks for you kind reply not sure what Egfr is but my BP is ok with the aid of medication. Thank you again.
Hi George, just for info, it stands for Estimated Glomerular Filtration rate. I think the figure is 100 at birth and then it gradually goes down the older we get. My Auntie's is 25 but as she is 96, her GP says that's ok.
Thank you.I do not know my figure but will ask my GP when I see him later this week. All I have been told in the past 10 years is I have gone from stage 2 to upper stage 3...surprised I have never been advised re foods and beverages to avoid or how much water I should add if any to my fluid intake......seems to me that the monitoring is only for the deterioration in kidney function. I prefer with any illness to try and help myself and in so doing work with the professionals....but as I am not on medication for CKD it seems an odd approach.
I agree it does. I would be interested in what your GP says regards fluid intake. I am sure upper stage 3 at 86 is good. Take care.
