Hi, first post on here. Had paroxysmal AF for 4 years. But when not in fibrillation still feel lightheaded, tightness in chest and all the symptoms that go with it. On Bisoprolol and Apixaban.
The GP thinks it may be down to anxiety and has prescribed an antidepressant, Mirtazapine. Has anyone taken these as my first dose yesterday has caused all sorts of reactions.

I think AF is poorly understood by many GP's . It is normal to have anxiety with AF and there are things you can do to help yourself and your body to cope with both the anxiety and AF by making lifestyle changes including looking at your diet/daily gentle exercise/ learning relaxation techniques/avoiding stress.
I am aware a lot of people don't tolerate Bisoprolol very well and it can produce side effects similar to the ones you describe so maybe that is something to consider and mention to your GP .
Barney if you look directly under your post you will see a tag with 'mirtazapine' on it , click on this for more information. You can also use the search box at the top of the page.
