Hi I’ve been on Apixaban 3 years no problems!

I've just changed from Rivaroxaban to Apixaban, was a bit worried because lactose intolerance was mentioned but so far so good! I have had to set up a reminder for the morning dose. Definitely better for IBS because you don't feel forced to have a meal when your digestion is upset.

Hi kjjan :-) we all have such different bodies don't we, what suits one person seems to have a bad effect on another so we can only try something to see how we get on.

I have had IBS in the past (treated with Buscopan) but haven't had it in the year I have been taking Apixaban and I wonder if my lifestyle changes have anything to do with that. I now eat a very healthy diet mainly vegetarian, small meals, with no alcohol and avoiding processed foods.

It is worth discussing a change of meds with your doctor.

I understand that Rivaroxaban should be taken with a meal (around 300 - 400 calories say), including some fat. Breakfast is fine if you eat lots, not if you don't! So consider what you are eating when you take it. I take mine immediately before eating, which seems to be OK.
