Thank you!
Yes, neuropathy is a recognised side-effect of flecainide but rare – the article mentions only 4 other cases (though there are probably more unreported) out of the many thousands of people who have taken it since it was introduced in the early 1980s. If anyone experiences the pins-and-needles sensation in thier toes and fingers, over several days, they should discuss with their doctor about changing to a different antiarrhythmic medication such as dronedarone.
It is important to realise that all active drugs are basically toxins that have benefits greater than their harmful effects, and that this oftens depends on individual metabolic factors, especially the efficiency of your particular collection of enzymes to break down the drug.
I now have numbness in my hands and feet. And sometimes my lips. And I only took flecenaide for a few weeks.
Are you still taking flecainide?
Peripheral neuropathy is not likely to affect your lips (as the nerves are too short) but anyway it would be best to stop taking it and change to something else. If the cause was the flecainide and you have stopped, the symptoms should gradually get better over a few months, but not always 100%.
I'm not sure. But when I first began to feel the numbness, it felt like I was disconnected from the ground. Also my hands felt like I had a sticky film on the palms of my hands.
I have a slight numbness overall. And dry mouth that caused my teeth to turn yellow and my tongue really white.
