I have had mitral valve repair and have persistent AF. I have had flu and pneumonia jab.
But after a coughing bug I woke feeling like someone was Sittng on my chest and pain in shoulders and through to rib. I was seen immediately by GP, he was kind, said I have Pleurisy, put me on Doxycycline . I still feel really shaky , I live alone and watched my mum die of pneumonia a month ago.
I am not sure if I am being neurotic or If actually my heart is playing up. Symptoms are so similar. I only see my cardiologist privately , and if in an emergency I get taken to Addenbrookes he is quite sarcastic.
Normally I am quite resilient and deal with persistent AF but today I am very wobbly and shaky.
Not sure what to do, any suggestions?

Did he do any blood tests or just listen to you chest? Chest infections are always going to make you feel rough so try to rest .
Hello Luludean, clearly you are having a difficult time and it is not surprising that you are concerned, especially with your recent problems with your mother. Being on your own obviously does not help either as there is no immediate outlet to vent your worries. I assume you saw your GP quite recently, so maybe you need more time to see if the new medication helps, but if you think the problem is heart related, I suspect you will not relax until it is checked. I guess that will require either a visit to A&E or an appointment with your cardiologist. If you are getting any sharp chest pain then you must go to the hospital immediately, but otherwise, maybe give it a little more time to see if things improve, but see your GP again if necessary......hope you feel better soon....
Thank you for replies. Saw GP on Monday. On anti biotics. No cough , no temperature , only a tiny pain in shoulder, not like pain on Monday morning no more feeling of someone sitting on my chest, just this being cld and wobbly leg and strong AF and a bit giddy. One of side effects of Doxycyvline " is roaring in ears" pkt says.
