Hi everyone, is it safe to have a massage when you've got heart failure and PAF? I rang my surgery for advice and was told that they didn't know. Wishing you all well.

I suspect it would depend upon what type of massage and where massage was going to be. I would think arms, legs would be soothing. Any position where you would be lying flat might have an affect.

I have had massages quite regurlarly from a very experienced and well qualified practitioner who has taught me a lot.

I would recommend you check out this blog and do some very careful questioning of your masseur before committing.

PS - I have AF & other arrythmias but I’m not in heart failure. My masseur checks my BP before and after to check the affect and is very aware of what is said in this informative article.

In the past when I have tried to have a massage it has been refused due to being on an A.C. The only ones allowed are face head and reflexology as far as I know.
