Any advice re drinking alcohol when on bisophorol or Rivaxobran?

I don’t see to have any issues with beer etc in moderation but would be interested in other views?

Seems to be very personal but from what I can gather moderate consumption of alcohol - if it doesn’t exacerbate existing AF or trigger an episode and you enjoy it - enjoy. But daily consumption will probably worsen your AF wellbeing and binge drinking should be avoided at all costs - unless you really want to be very ill.

I used to drink whiskey but sadly can no longer. Beer weakens me - literally - but I really miss the odd half on a sunny day.

I can still drink a good quality, organic wine but avoid plonk as I react to that in seconds.

I think you will find the full gamut of practice from drinking with impunity to those who don’t touch a drop.

PS - my reply was based on AF - not the meds - not sure the meds would make any difference?? Unless it says so on the leaflet?

I have drunk with Bisoprolol but only ever taken Dabigatran or Apixaban and not experienced dire consequences.

I like this comment. We are all so different and have to learn, I think,by trial and error what we can drink/how much/or not at all. Pretty soon you'll learn how your body reacts when you drink and be able to takeit from there.

I'm fine drinking with Apixiban.

Bisoprolol I only take when AF visits, and I don't drink when it does.

With my warfarin it's consistency in the diet that counts. So I suppose I could theoretically drink a bottle of ouzo a day as long as I drank it EVERY day, and for a while my INR would be stable, before liver failure set in.

I take both Bisoprolol and alcohol in moderation. Anything more than moderate would risk postural hypotension, falls and intracranial haemorrhage I have been warned by my doctor. Naturally your experience will vary.

As I was also advised as a student, an alcoholic is a patient who drinks more than his GP. I have found that reassuring.

i am both of these tablets & when I want a drink I stick to Lambrini or non alcoholic wine & lemonade. I think mixing your medication with alcohol is not a very wise thing.

I'm in permanent AF and also take bisoprolol among other things. I've never drunk much alcohol, but I find a glass of wine has no effect -more than that i start getting what I call 'the bumps' when I can feel my heart banging a bit. But it may be that if you're used to more alcohol, your system will take more before there's a problem. I think it's a matter of trial and error to see what suits you. I was told that coffee and chocolate would be a problem, but I haven't found they have any effect at all.

Sorry but never notice any difference whatever I drink as one of those with persistent and no symptoms

I have checked pulse before, when drinking and after and just seem same random clatter

Strange how all are different

However most perfumes send my asthma Into overdrive and then I feel off it

Interesting - there seems to be a focus on what we consume through our digestive system and very little about our environment, perfumed candles have a negative effect on many people.

I also wonder about many of the cosmetics, bath products, creams and lotions - but we conveniently forget they are also chemicals.

I would imagine that it is really hard to avoid perfume, exp specially in social situations whereas it is really easy to avoid alcohol?
