Are you sure it is vertigo and not either stress or high blood pressure?

I am under a lot of stress and having to drive down 3 times a week to a very sick very old mother. The last two times after driving back ,in the dark I arctic conditions , I was so giddy on getting out of the car that I went straight to bed fearing I was having a stroke.. A mix of jet lag and sea sick feeling.

When I did waken next morning I just had a headache..

I'm not sure about the dosage but this is one of the standard remedies for sea-sickness. I don't usually suffer myself and haven't taken it but it seems to work for those who need it. Stugeron is how it is marketed. I normally called it euthanasia pills as it seems to cause fairly instant drowsiness. I suppose it is better dozing off than heaving with seasickness on the aft of a yacht.

Didunth, do you have vertigo then?

I could not stand being instantly drowsy . I do have persistent AF.

I am sure my giddiness is due to extreme tiredness and exhaustion after too many long drives at this time of the year, to visit a 98 year old mother who keeps being at death's door.

Only being pragmatic!

No I have suffered vertigo but not done anything about it. This was a long time ago. I write as I used to go sailing and while I never suffered from seasickness, others in the group did and took Stugeron which was not on prescription at the time (20 years ago). It seemed that it sent them to sleep. If you have problems when driving it would be well to check the effect before driving.

Cinnarzine was absolutely brilliant when I had vertigo for a few months

1. It stopped my vertigo, resulting in me falling off my horse rather less regularly!

2. It enabled me to walk in straight lines along the corridors of a cruise ship in a force 10 through the Day of Biscay when everyone else was falling over.

But that was about 4 years ago and I've only had AF for about 21 months so I'd be interested to know if its OK to be able to take it again when I sail next time?
