Tachycardia and digestive system

Prior to my last post, about my experience, my general resting heart rate is always between 80-100 bpm I know that can be normal but Im anxious as it’s the limit I feel it never goes below 80, also iv had a loss of appetite the last two days, and I’m very gassy, is this normal for someone who is going through what I am? my gut/stomach/digestive system doesn’t feel right is there any chance it could be related? Is it normal that my heart rate isnt in the 60’s 70’s? I’m having a lot of palpitations also throughout the day

Thank you for your reply! yes iv had a feeling it might be ibs I’ve suffered from symptoms of ibs for a while before my heart issues, I’m really hoping it’s anxiety and nothing too serious but because I pretty much have symptoms 24/7 it feels more serious but I guess I’m new to it all so I’m not sure what it’s meant to feel like :(

Also my heart rate goes up with the slightest movements sometimes just walking to bathroom, or rolling over in bed? Like silly things make it rise

Activity will make it go up - that's normal - amd then it comes down again. It is being continuously high which is unusual, but high in that sense is usually considered to be above 100, so you're doing fine. So do what you need to do; just don't go playing squash (and so sending it sky-high unnecessarily!) and you'll be fine.

I know I have discovered that the hard way unfortunately, it’s so hard to resist googling sometimes👎🏻

Have been exactly the same as you, found I was so anxious and really aware of whatever my heart was doing or not doing that I was beginning to drive myself around the twist!

I found it hard to adjust to my diagnosis of PAF but have found this forum very reassuring!

My heart rate is almost always between 70-90, I'm on bisoprolol 2.5 mg and I'm lucky as I tolerate it well with no side effects.

Still waiting to see an ep though and this has been going on since April 🙃

Oh gosh really? Yea I can’t help but feel anxious no matter what people say it’s very difficult, and what’s PAF paroxysmal af? Iv just looked it up and it sounds quite similar to my symptoms, iv been given bisoprolol but iv been told to only take when I need it, not more than once a day but I haven’t been told to take them everyday as I haven’t been diagnosed with anything yet :( does this sounds normal? I hope you’re feeling ok :) x

I would say that sounds about normal!

It's taken since January as that is when it all started but my diagnosis came after my 3rd trip to A&E in April. It was so scary in the beginning and everything in my life revolved around this diagnosis but as I said I was driving myself mad!

I feel great most of the tim, I'm 44 and am generally fit and healthy. I walk miles with the dog and I also work, try and relax a bit and you will be ok!

You mentioned 2 days ago that you had enlarged lymph nodes. Have they enlarged further or disappeared.?

You also said a blood test for infection/inflammation was slightly abnormal. Was that to measure C-reactive protein CRP? Your GP could repeat that. A return to normal would be reassuring.

Before you became physically unwell, did you have any problems with anxiety? Have you had to cope with a lot of stress in your life before your current problems?

How much are your symptoms interfering with your job or studies? If you aren't working or can't study, you could ask your GP to get your cardiology appointment brought forward.

Please do not feel any need to answer any questions if they seem intrusive, inappropriate or irrelevant. If you prefer not to respond at all that will be fine too.

Yes, they haven’t disappeared or got larger they’re just still the same, yes iv already had further blood tests I’m waiting for the results🤞🏻:) and yes iv has a few problems with anxiety this past year I’d say, and when I was 16 there was an extremely emotional situation with my mom and dad (I’m 22 now) and I’m not working at the moment because I’m a dog groomer which can be quite strenuous, I have my cardiologist app on the 28th December, may I ask why you ask these particular questions? :)

in reply to Hayleywayley

Because if we present with physical symptoms and all the tests come back normal, some doctors begin to imply we are just anxious. They may not recognise we are only anxious because we feel ill and nobody seems to know what is wrong with us.

If on the other hand we have been anxious for a long time, sometimes our anxieties can manifest themselves as physical symptoms.

It is not unusual for people who present with physical symptoms and are later considered just to be anxious, to receive a physical diagnosis after a long delay.

And anxious people get physically ill just as often as people who are not anxious. All this can present difficulties in diagnosis.

Fortunately it seems your doctors are taking you seriously and you have an early appointment.

I am not in any way implying that you are getting anything other than excellent care. Nor that you have any serious illness. I would suggest you rest as much as you can and abstain from alcohol and stimulants until you have your appointment.

in reply to

Stimulants as in tea, coffee and other food and drink containing caffeine.

Has there been any discussion about whether your symptoms could be related to your occupation, by way of contracting an unusual infection for example Lyme disease which I mentioned in your other thread. Do the dogs you see ever show signs of any infection?

Hi Hayley, all I can say is try not worry and wait till your test are done . My son had something similar to you and they found he had POTS . Apparently is very common in young people and he was also anaemic . He upped his salt intake as recommended by a cardiologist and took iron and was fine 😊 in fact he’s now playing high level football. It might not be that as I am no doctor, but his heart rate used to change on standing and waking up . But also I no there is definitely a connection with stomach and heart as I am going through this myself right now . Your doing the right thing and everything is getting checked out so try and stay calm .

Let us no how you get on and good luck .

Best wishes
