Hello, this may be a stupid question but having been on Bisoprolol a year now, I have noticed that when my brand is changed I seem to get stronger side affects. I know the active ingredient is the same but does anyone know if the 'mix' causes different reactions. I was trucking along nicely until a brand change this week and I seem to be more lightheaded and woolly than usual. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you.
Generic bisoprolol: Hello, this may be... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Generic bisoprolol
I don’t think it is a silly question at all - I have similar reactions with various meds and I have been told not to waver from one brand to another because of side effects. The active ingredient may remain the same but the fillers used to make the pills may and often do differ.
Thank you for your reply. I will have a word with the pharmacist and ask for the same brand. I thought I was imagining it at first lol
When I ask for a particular brand because it's the one that suits me my pharmacist (based in my GP practice) says that they have to have what they are sent. Hence I've had to come off Bisoprolol altogether because it seems a lottery as to which generic brand I'm given. I also find that one particular generic Warfarin tablet breaks into pieces when I release them from the packet - when I have that brand I use far more tablets because of this - it seems so shortsighted of them.
What do you take instead of Bisoprolol 7Helena? You are right re the lottery; I have noticed 3 brands and just when I get used to one I am given a different one. I am definitely asking for a specific when I get my next one.
I've just had to stop because the side effects were just too extreme and I was unable to function. Kept falling asleep and was devoid of energy. My GP didn't offer me an alternative.
I take Flecainide and Metoprolol and always make sure my pharmacist gives be the same brand. I certainly notice a difference if the brand changes. Sometimes the fillers in the tablets are a little different.

Hi Beehive. I only use the Tambocor brand for that reason. Two Chemists, (one Essex and one Bedfordshire), would only supply it if the GP's prescription stated that name instead of Flecainide. Terry
