I make what I thought was a harmless comment on here and 47 responses, did I touch a nerve I ask, have I said something very wrong, I too understand how scary AF can be,but I believe and ESP have agreed with me,this support is great ,Bob for example is brilliant he knows his stuff, but some knowledge is dangerous, when a newcomer looks on here everyone may try and put their opinion, that's where it's goes wrong,as we know anxiety is not nice, ,people latch on to anything,I do get the feel some people treat this site like a social club, never good to spend a lot of time checking health issues just feeding it all, every other person I meet has AF but doesn't spend time talking about it,I don't mean to upset anybody but the response I got from my post proves people are constantly checking the forum, trust me people I am on your side,I just worry for the younger ones who don't realise that when people get older they obsess about health, this is all so consuming not healthy.

Frankly you just came across as a bit of a plonker given the questions you have raised in the past that people have taken the time and trouble to answer.

If our replies don't suit maybe try another forum?

I think it's best to accept that the people on here do want to have the knowledge to help them cope- AF varies a lot and some people are very ill with it so you must expect to upset people if you imply they are fussing over nothing!! I think people are able to distinguish between helpful advice and alternatives so there is no danger involved!! People like Bob will always intervene if anything misleading is posted and the posts are centrally monitored.

I would advise you to leave the subject alone now!!

I think you will find that a lot of the older people on hear do not have just AF but other healh problems as well, I have permanent AF , Heart failure problems, mild COPD. I am not obsessed with any of these I get on with it. We all know that we have to consult GP, Consultans or GP for Mediction and onging treatment.

We are all different & need support in different ways so use this forum for support to suit ourselves so if it doesn’t suit you move on don’t criticise. I personally find it so helpful to cope with this rogue condition

I think you should stop'worrying' about other people and concentrate on yourself.

None of us on this forum are 'obsessed' just appreciative of the support, exchange of ideas and great sense of humour.

When you post about yourself, others may offer you input which you can take or leave. When you make unsolicited comments about the behaviours of others, they wonder what could be your motivation. And ironically, it's your behaviour in doing so that becomes the issue.

I am totally confused and gobsmacked by your comments and judgements about others,

It seems to me that something someone has commented on has upset you. If so please - feel free to challenge - directly or at least explain? I find your messages cryptic and judgemental.

Even if what you said is true and some people are obsessive (a judgement) about their health, so what? You don’t have to be.

Let us leave it here now. Best wishes.

Looking back at your posts it strikes me that sometimes you speak without thinking that maybe you are upsetting people. Maybe it's time to re read your texts before pressing the submit button.

In another Facebook forum that somehow accepts me as a member (Terry Pratchett group) there is a saying, 'please scroll past if not interested' and I think that is true of every forum. We can't control how everyone uses it, nor should we. If someone posts something I have no direct experience of, and can't help with, or am not particularly interested in, I just don't click on the link. There's no point in fretting over stuff you can't control - which I think is your message with AF, so I would just apply it to other things.

This forum is the best thing since sliced bread. Helpful, informative and compassionate. Leave us alone if you don't like it.

.......Having received a diagnosis of P-AF by letter I came to this site in great distress not knowing what was happening to me having received almost no information about my condition from my GP .

It can be very scary when you live alone and are suddenly diagnosed with a condition like AF, there is no one with whom you can discuss your concerns.

Reading the posts on this site I quickly became reassured that my condition and horrible symptoms were unlikely to be life threatening, I could learn to live with them and that there are ways I might be able to slow the progression of AF.

Having received so much reassurance and information from members here I hope I can repay the site by giving a little of my time to those who find themselves in a similar situation.

By coming here I am also kept up to date with any new developments, research and ways to help manage my condition.

You implied that the Forum users were always moaning and obsessing about their health. A small minority, maybe, but perhaps they are a bit scared and worried. I like this site as I can ask questions and lovely people answer. It is also interesting to see what different treatments people are getting. And it is a great place to support each other I love it.

People view and post to the forum for many reasons: for support, to offer what has/has not worked for them, to share public information, etc. AFIB - cause, effects, what's worked/not - is different for each of us. No one has "The Answer" for AFIB. So please take forum participation for what it's worth, and if there's no value for you, I would suggest that you move on (quietly).

atrialfib , you have posted thirteen times in the past month looking for help and advice and now you are complaining because too many people use this forum too often? 😂

You are so fortunate that people are more empathetic towards you than you are towards others. Learn to appreciate your good luck.

Every individual situation is totally different, which is why people will have a broad spectrum of comments. Personally, when I have to go into ER to have repeated electro cardioversions, I always tell them that Afib is a curse, I am otherwise totally healthy, but yet this condition is disabling when I go into Afib!

I have always been extremely active so it has been a complete turn around of lifestyle for me, but I have learned so much on this site. What works for one, might not work for another. Simple actually!

To Atriafib: I have benefited immensely from this forum and do not appreciate yours, or anyone else's comments that accyse people obsessing about their condition. Perhaps you should divert your interest from this forum to one where you could receive little sensitivity training.

atrial fib, I hope that you are able to successfully get your AFIB treated. However, I suggest that you cease from making further comments to this site if member comments, stories questions, responses and advise are not to your liking.

To other members, it is no longer worth spending any more of our collective time responding to such nonsense.

I think this is someone unable to process things as most of us on here can. So these comments will not be hitting the intended spot.

I think It’s best not to respond further.

Sometimes knowledge isn’t power and ignorance is bliss to some. Not me though.

I agree pat .

When afib first entered my life,,I certainly knew nothing, was scared to death having a heart issue for the first time and Was desperate for information and guidance,,,which I learned quickly is not always available from the medical profession,,,either at any point or in a timely fashion,,,,I found this forum by accident and have been checking the posts for more than 2 years now,,,No,I am NOT obsessed with afib nor my health in general,,,BUT What I am is thankful to be in touch with a caring group of afibbers who are willing to listen, share and be there for me and others,,,,always a huge thank you from me,gang!!!

People can and should use this forum as they see fit. It is a forum for people with a health condition therefore rather naive to expect people not to talk about their own health.

What is a stupid question for some is godsend for another. It really isn't anyone else's business to dictate what people should or should not be asking posting or sharing.

If people cannot cope with that general ethos maybe they should refrain from posting in this environment.

This forum shows to me I’m not on my own and can relate to what others are going through AF can be really frightening to hear other people’s experiences brings me comfort we are all in this together

I love this forum, it keeps me sane. I don't post very often but I'm an avid reader. I have lived with heart problems, AF and heart failure and valve damage most of my life. Certainly since I was 15 and I have now achieved the grand old age of 51. I want to experience many more years yet!! I also have IBS, kidney issues, joint problems including eye problems, and some debilitating mental health difficulties but I try to soldier on. It is always reassuring to come on the forums and read about someone else who is struggling with things just like I am, it helps me to feel less alone. Health issues can be so isolating and this is kind of a hug to keep me on the right track. I am so very grateful to all of you for just being there xx
