I am having the second ablation because of ongoing afib. I had the first cardioversion 1 week after the ablation and the second cardioversion 1 week after that. My afib starts and won't stop. Cardioversion works well for me. Even for a short time.

Aww so sorry to hear that , who is your EP at what hospital if you don't mind me asking . Was it RF ablation or cryoablation? Hope you don't mind me asking. And I hope the second one fixes things for you 💗 bless you x

I am in Australia. I have a GP, Cardiologist, and my procedure was done at a private hospital in Brisbane. I dont feel comfortable putting names on the forum. I am sure my doctors are doing the best for me. My body just has other ideas.

Hi Ann , I'm in cairns and planning my first ablation early next year in Brisbane . I went into AF in 2014, cardioverted 3 times and as my original heart specialist I felt wasn't progressive , I switched to another , I'm on a drug now which my original cardiologist wouldn't put me on , the new cardiologist is more forward thinking and did , had a few jumping in and out of AF at the beginning of the new med but seems to have settled the AF ( 8 months no AF). While I don't know your back story , I've learnt you have to look after yourself , GPS and Spec are too busy , my advice is question things and don't be afraid to get a second opinion, I did and I'm better for it .

Hi Steve I am in Bundaberg. I had my ablation in Brisbane in aug. I am booked in for the second ablation in nov. I have been put on new mefication after my second cardioversion. The new meds have major side affects but are really helping me function again. Thanks for your reply. Wishing you well.

It appears that you were in persistent AF. The question is how long were you in persistent (defined as AF more than 7 days)?

According to Dr Haissaguerre, you will have four targeted areas developed in the first six months and another three during the next six months. Due to the inflammation of the heart as a result of ablation, not all of the rogue signals can be ablated the first time round resulting in the need for a second ablation.

Sorry Cuore, I don't understand 'you will have four targeted areas developed in the first six months and another three during the next six months'. Would you explain?
