I have a afib attack every 8 days and it lasts for 2 days then goes back to normal, or near normal, I am on 7.5 bisoprolol and 20mg rivaroxaban. I used to go to the A&E every time it happened but now I don't bother it is a waste of time, they would just wait till my HB drops abit then send me home, they never give me anything.

Are you under a proper rhythm specialist cardiologist (electrophsyiologist EP) or just your GP? Generally speaking A and E is for emergency and AF is a chronic condition so unless you have chest pain or breathing difficulties they won't bother much with you. Once you know your body and your condition you should be able to manage well enough but anything out of the ordinary should be checked.
AF is such a ,mongrel condition that treatment is about finding the right combination of drugs or ablation for you so do keep pushing for something better. If you have not yet seen an EP then ask to see one.
AF Association has a vast resource of books and information available on line which can help you to understand and therefore be able better to engage with those treating you.
I was on Bisoprolol which is a heart rate reducer and after reading this site I asked to be put on flecenide a rhythm drug. I started as a pill in the pocket which worked great then 50mg 2 x day and at 75mg 2 x day it completely stopped daily supra vent fib and my proximal A fib.
I quit the Bis and keep it as a pill in the pocket along with an additional 75 mg Flec. . ALL CLEAR since 3/2016
I concur with BobD - read, ask, push.
These drugs have huge side effects so don't let the doc just hammer you.
Start with lower doses and move up if necessary.
My doc wanted to move me from 50mg to 100mg Flec 2x day because he thought it was too much pill cutting.
I went to the pharmacist and found a 150 that breaks in 1/2
Good Luck
The fact it is so regular tends to indicate some trigger mechanism. Every seven days would be more obvious but is there anything you can think of every eight days that could be a trigger.
Hi
I too go into Afib every 8 days and it lasts 2 days. I thought I was the only one with such a regular pattern. Its been like this for at least 3 years. I am on bisoprolol 3.75mg in the morning and 2.5mg at night. I had a cryoablation 5 1/2 weeks ago which couldn't be completed due to the phrenic nerve being so close to the 4th vein but they had did the other 3.
However, I sustained phrenic nerve injury on the right side, with my right lung now being paralysed and hardly any oxygen in or out of it. On top of which, I was admitted to hospital on Friday with pneumonia and a clot on the lung!
I waited 18 months for the op, hopeful it would give me my life back. I was fed up of losing 2 days a week feeling absolutely useless due to the af but now I have 7 days a week of feeling absolutely useless. I still get the 8 day cycle of af. I know they say give it 3 months or more to see if its worked but I have very little evidence that it has.
If offered an ablation please think very carefully!
My AF comes along every six days like clockwork and lasts for a day. The last few times it's been every 4 days and always, always follows a meal -- any type of meal. I've avoided heavy meals for months, but now it seems that on the 4th day or the 6th day, it starts in the afternoon after my mid day meal. Very strange. (No afib meds for me -- just anticoagulant to cut stroke risk.)
