Yes they have been. For some reason surgeons have been more likely to do it during mitral valve replacement than other procedures.

When having my Amplatzer device fitted I was speaking to the theatre 'Sister' and he said that he had arranged for his father to have his LAA removed when having his upcoming heart surgery.
