Has anyone experienced sustained Normal Sinus Rhythm (NSR) for over a year when only using cardioversion to address their AF?
Cardioversion: Has anyone experienced... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Cardioversion
Only after successful ablation. My DCCV were for atrial tachcycardia following ablation rather than AF.
DCCV is a useful tool during early treatment as it shows that NSR can be attained even for a short period thus making it easier to decide if ablation may be appropriate treatment. Remember that ALL treatment for AF is merely about improving quality of life (QOL).
Yes. Actually 18 months before another event that eventually started coming more often until I decided to nip it in the bud with an Ablation.
Yes.I had a successful cardioversion in 2004 which lasted until last year.Had another in September of last year which lasted only until June this year. Now I have intermittent AF but as symptoms are not too severe I am taking Diltiazem for rate control and also Xarelto.
How much Diltiazem? Time released? When you do not take Diltiazem what does your rate increase to and sustain? Have you ever wondered why a calcium channel blocker is required to control rate? I use Diltaizem too.
If you were able to achieve inter-cellular calcium homeostasis do you think it would have an affect on rate control and beat tonality?
Calcium homeostasis is at the core of mitochondria health.
I leave the minutae of afib to my cardio/ep....thats what I pay him for.Diltiazem works for me in prolonged release form. Not the same for everybody as we are not all the same.Seems afib is a journey which has different connoctations for us all....
Do any of you remember how many joules? Also, what is your height and weight. I forgot the joules they used on me, but they kept asking me to open my eyes with the anesthesia, which they hit me with a truck load, and I still kept opening my eyes when they asked me. They almost had to ventilate me. My CV attempt was lame.
I had a general anesthetic.....knocked out completely....didn't feel anything. No idea of strength in joules. My heighth is 5ft10inchs....weight 13st10lbs.Cardioversions are pretty routine procedures which shouldn't cause any major problems usually. If yours didn't work it may be worth considering trying again but best to talk it over with your medical advisors.....best of luck...
Mine lasted a measly 11hrs 😕
I've had two cardioversions. The first lasted nearly two years and the second, so far, has gone two years and nine months. I am a reasonably happy 80year old, 6'1" and 15 stones. Both times I was given 200 joules which worked first time. Don't forget, we are all different. What works well for one, may not for another.
After CHF diagnosed last week with EJ at 20% I had 4 CVs this past week. Stubborn Afib. Not successful. Ablation set for 3/3/22. I too had a general anesthetic.....knocked out completely....didn't feel anything. On statin 20+ years, and now on Amiodarone, Metoprolol, Digoxin off Diltiazem I guess until ablation. Hope it works.
