Headaches and feeling drugged.

Hi all, following my AF diagnosis several months ago , I didn't have any side effects from the Sotalol or Apixaban. I was on a small dose of Ramapril for diabetes.

Lately blood pressure has been a problem and GP has gradually been increasing the Ramipril each month. I was ok at 7.5 mg but now on max dose of 10mg and feel drugged on waking,, and difficult to actually wake up fully, and I get days of quite severe headaches.

Got appointment in 4 weeks for docs, but wondered what you guys think, as I can't see any side effect like this noted for Ramapril.

I have no experience with Ramapril, but think you should be calling your GP in the morning and telling him how the additional tablet dosage is making you feel. Please do not go on suffering and feeling the way you do. Something just doesn't seem right does it!

I have been on Ramipril for over 3 years, dosage 5 mg also take Bisoprolol, Diltazem and Rivaroxaban. Have had trouble with my blood pressure (diastolic reading) so 8 weeks ago Ramipril was increased to 7.5 mg. Over those weeks I have been feeling more tired and not very awake in the mornings and generally rather foggy (as I call it) in the head most of the day, sort of not firng on all cylinders. Have not had any headaches but heart has been more fluttery than usual. It has not improved my blood pressure so after speaking to my HF nurse (heart failure nurse, HF being one of my problems as well, she looks after my AF as also) have gone back to 5 mg. That was 5 days ago and the have felt so much better, feel much more awake and alert the last few days. So obviously 5 mg I can cope with but not above. Hope you get it sorted.

I cut down the Ramipril myself, but did see Doc this morning who told me off for that, but I did feel better , however BP was way too high.

Ramipril now reduced and taking 5mg Amlodipine as well, so hope that this clears the problem side effects (headache already easing) and gets the BP under control.

Have to see doc again in 2 weeks.

Update: I saw my GP, got told off for reducing Ramipril dose, as to much a drop can be dangerous, so fair comment. Asked did I feel better though lol and I did.

Reduced Ramipril to 7.5mg and introduced Amlodipine 5mg. I feel almost back to normal after a week. Tiredness has gone as have the headaches, just a slight twinge now and again.

To see doc again within 2 weeks for follow up.

So don't suffer side effects, like me, go back and get it sorted.
