Tuesday morning.... went to work... decided to do a 12-7 none clinical as no sign of baby... Katie having slight twinges. I sit down within 10 minutes of getting there and my heart rate shoots up to 130.
Made it downstairs to ED... ended up sat in Majors with no monitoring as resus was full but once I eventually got assessed by the doctor 2 hours later (granted he'd read all my notes) my HR was up at 248 and I was nearly passing out. Rushed me into Resus, hooked me up only to find it was sitting back down at 119. Missed the snapshot.
ECG was again showing NSTEMI or some sort of MI... wasn't AF just rapid heart rate (so they say). They spoke to cardiology and increased bisoprolol from 10mg to 12.5 (2.5 now being taken in the evening)
We got home about 6:30pm, and by 9pm I was calling my parents because BABY WAS ON THE WAY!
HR sat at 100, reluctantly we took to bed at 1:30am (me feeling like total s*** worn out and her in pain) only to get up at 3am and into hospital already 5cm dilated and only paracetamol on board.
Long story short, Kate gave birth to a daughter at 6:54 Wednesday morning.... with me at the "action end" batting a HR of 120, her midwife godmum supporting us both, and a 7lb 2oz gorgeous girl called Abigail Rose with blue eyes that I fell in love with!
After a bit of assessment and screening (including a three hour discussion about if Abi should have an ECG given my history, despite no mention of it from midwives or consultants over the last 9 months and no evidence of a murmur on examination) we were home by 4pm the same day! 10 hours old!
Yesterday after only 2 hours sleep in about 38 hours.... and trying to stay hydrated look after Katie & be there for Abigail, I was batting at 148 again when we had a visit from the midwife.
I was however, ordered back to bed and grabbed another 2 hours. I also took another dose of Amiodrone which has now pushed it back down to 74 resting. And so far so good.
Abi seems to sleep on me regardless of a HR of 74 or 148.... so I'm not too fussed!

Congratulations wow what an experience all round for you all. It's a shame you had all this hassle when you would have loved to be able to concentrate on the birth without the added extra of arrhythmia.
Hope you can all get some rest in every respect and your heart settles. What a joy Abigail will be to you both.
Wow, a bit of a rollercoaster couple of days is putting it mildly. However, huge congratulations on the arrival of Abigail Rose and hope she continues to sleep well and give you both plenty of rest.

Many congratulations to all three! I'm sure things will settle now most of the uncertainty has gone. If you can cope with that you can cope with anything. Best wishes Wendyb
