AFIB Resources for Patients
Mi cardio has said the same thing: diet needs to be consistent. others here have probably heard the same from their doctors. Interesting point about the vit k supplements. key word there is 'MAY'. thanks for this link.
Vit K (or at least Vit K2) certainly helps stabilise my INR and enables me to eat what I like - i.e. a very varied diet.
hi, MarkS -- thanks, i'm curious -- how do *you* take Vit k or K2, like when and how much and how do you decide. also, what does your doc say about it? these questions may be stupid but i dont personally know anyone taking *any* of these anti-coagulants on a regular basis, my health care providers dont seem to know anything beyond what's in the research reports. so this forum has been really helpful!
I take 90mcg of Jarrod MK-7 Vit K2 p.d. I haven't told my doctor, I rely on the research I've carried out, such as:
medscape.com/viewarticle/51... and
bloodjournal.org/content/10...
I'm afraid your health care providers are unlikely to be aware of this research and may even go so far as to say Vit K intake should be minimised (exactly the wrong things to do!).
Sorry, I also meant to say I have my own Coaguchek so I monitor my INR myself, as do many others on this forum. If you're on warfarin I would strongly suggest this.
thanks for the info. i use medscape all the time. very helpful. if i have to go on warfarin i would use coagucheck or whatever we have available in the US. right now i'm on eliquis and not sure if it's absorbing, i had bariatric surgery 18 years ago. that's my dilemma. thanks again for sharing!
Thanks Mark, very helpful. I'm in process of getting Coagucheck. Been on warfarin since 2009. Have had a couple of low Protime events, very scary and painful. Symptoms present differently, thought I pulled some muscles in my back.. wrong, took 5 mg warfarin pain subsides. No rhyme or reason.
