There have been some law suits in the USA, I am glad we do not have the same system, to my knowledge there have been no successful law suits in the UK or Europe. And of course this is a piranha site literally a lawyer who makes their money from suing drug companies, I mean one of their statements is "uncontrolled bleeding" they make it sounds like taking the drug will make blood pump out of you like an arterial bleed. Yes there is a bleeding risk, but that risk is lower than the stroke risk which is why we take it.

Love it or hate it, if we are in AF most of us need anti-coagulants, which other one will you take?

Be well

Ian

God bless America. Land of the (far from free ) ambulance chasing lawyers.

I'm from America and I worked my entire career for lawyers -- although not this kind. But you're absolutely correct in your observations, Bob and Ian.

I asked my EP to prescribe Dabigatran (Xarelto). I lived in US for 10 years, and so I knew about it. I had AF then, but they have same guidelines as NICE, as I was under 65 I was deemed not to be in need of it. I had a stroke in Blighty in 2015, having returned to UK in 2014. I have no worries whatsoever about taking this med, and now UK also has the antidote. I have peace of mind.

The litigation lawyers in the U.S. have been getting fat off this one for years now. I've noticed Eliquis has been added recently, too, in their TV ads.
