Ablation end of December and still have a fairly high resting pulse. How long does this last? Cuts into my work out. Don't know if the PE has anything to do with it but would think not... What say you AF Roomies?

Raised heart rate is common post ablation but usually slows down after six or nine months. Min sat around 85 for about eight months.

Mine took 6-9 months to settle down to pre ablation, resting HR.

Early days yet I would imagine. I had my ablation three weeks ago and my heart is all over the place. I've been told it can take months to settle down. Are you still taking rhythm control pills and beta blockers?

No. Having the operation means not having to take medications anymore.

My AF was partially caused by my normally (ie not in AF) low heart rate (often below 60 bpm). The EP said he could increase that to 70's to 80's when he did the ablation. This was by zapping the nerves (?) controlling the parasympathetic nervous system. Sure enough after ablation my heart rate, even resting is rarely below 65. AF was reduced, (not eliminated) and maybe this is at least part of the reason?
