Thanks for posting. If I were to do this I would have no clue whether I am at 50% or 90% because my hr jumps around so much!

Useful video but what about if you are in permanent AF? - does this same regime have any benefits?

this is really useful to motivate me to get going but I am a bit confused re regime - is it 4 x one minute intervals at 85% or an unspecified number of four-minute intervals?

And course it is difficult to do a warm-up at 60-70% when you are in AF as I am already at about 120 rather than the 95 this would suggest. But nontheless I am off down the gym to talk to someone about trying it! Thanks for posting it

In the full study which is here:

circ.ahajournals.org/conten...

It does say four 4 minute sessions at 85-95% with a 3 minute recovery period in between. That seems quite a long period for interval training - it's usually 30 sec to 1 minute at full power followed by 3 mins of recovery for 5 or 6 times.

I do interval training a couple of times a week on my bike and that's sprinting up hill for 30 secs followed by a 2 or 3 minute recovery cycling back to the start, then repeating 5 times. It is quite hard work. But it is a good workout in a total of about 15 mins. I also do other exercises such as walking and swimming on other days but less intensively.
