I don't have aortic stenosis but think you can relax if it is 'mild' and your doctor isn't worried.

I think it means the aortic valve is slightly narrowed - if it was severe they would operate but it doesn't sound as it you are in that category Take care

This is pretty common at your age and if you haven't got features of left heart failure, breathlessness and dizziness, is reasonable to ignore.

I was born with aortic stenosis. These days they fix it young but I was 58 before I needed a new valve. I have lead a normal, unrestricted life. I asked if I was a bit old to have the operation but they said that do the operation on people in their 80s. The key thing is your overall health. If your condition is mild they probably won't do anything but be guided by the professionals,

I had mild to severe AS and had new porcine valve at age 71 in August 2015. After 6 weeks I was back

cycling and have since covered over 2000 miles. The worst part about that heart op is

the need to take Bisoprolol afterwards. Do not be afraid you will be fine. Best wishes.

I also had a new left hip fitted 9 weeks back and have almost completely back to normal,

cycling on a turbo set up indoors. Life is good so take the bull by the horns and go for it.

hello. how do they replace the valve

It is open heart surgery so they have to cut your chest. There is something called a TAVI procedure which is done via a catheter in the groin. This is a repair rather than a replacement and I believe is only offered if there are very strong reasons for avoiding surgery.
