Just interested to know....how long have some of you been on warfarin?
Warfarin: Just interested to know... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Warfarin
18 months no problems, although EP has suggested apixaban
5 years no problems except sometimes INR going up and down out of range. EP changed me to Apixaban a year ago.
7 years, occasional ups and downs in INR for no reason. Apart from that no problems.
9 years and will probably be on it for the rest of my life.
I had a bad accident in January severing an artery in my hand.
Still here to tell the tale with prompt efficient care from Southampton General A & E.
It is just part of living with AF.

Since 2004. No problems, other than the inconvenience of blood tests. It has become a way of life. Good Luck.
Seven years with no issues at all with the Warfarin itself and, thankfully, my INR readings are nearly always within the acceptable limits. The biggest problem I've had in that time came two years ago when I had to come off Warfarin because I was having a biopsy - it took a couple of months and endless visits to the clinic/hospital for INR tests before things finally returned to how they were before.
Coming up to30 years next November although there is someone in my anticoag clinic who has been on it for 50 years. I self-test and have had no problems.
I have been taking it for 6 years and will take it for the rest of my life. I have had no problems accept when i need to take antibiotics as my INR goes down a bit and dose is adjusted.
7 years and I really suggest getting a Coaguchek if you're on it long term.
Been on it 3 years. Side effect.....hair loss, broken blood vessels on face, skin not as soft. I self check every week.
I have been on it for 10 years. I self test every Monday. If it start to go near to out range I can adjust diet. Lettuce to go up bananas to go down I wouldnt be without my machine
@rothwell 18 months no problem take 90 mck MK 7
21 years, since operation to replace mitral valve. Never taken anything less that 10mg a day to maintain inr between 2.5 and 3.5. To my knowledge no side effects, but who knows sometimes we learn to live with things that we don't even notice. AF developed 6 years ago, and despite 3 ablations, I am not clear and maybe never will be. For the record I find the drugs used to control AF far more difficult to live with, than the seemingly innocuous warfarin!
Hi I have been on Warfarin for 12 years now no problems
17yrs. No problems, bruise a bit more easily but nothing major
Hi I’m Sue. Not posted before but felt I’d like to put your mind at rest. I’ve been on warfarin for 31 years and on the whole no real problems. Ups and downs when I go on holiday somewhere hot but test myself while I’m away.
