Can you take NyQuil if you are an afib patient but don't have attacks now.

Not sure why you would want to take it as it contains lots of things which have side effects. Simpler to stick to paracetamol and cheaper.

still no cure for a cold, just paracetamol and time

That is the one problem with this multinational UK Based forum. Lots of things have different names in the colonies.

Just checked the chemical composition and in fact is it mainly paracetamol with the addition of some cough suppressant and decongestant. Many of these latter two are know to cause heart rhythm problems so best avoid. Do always check the small print on over the counter meds as many can be dangerous to we AFers as they can cause arrhythmias. Cavonia cough medicine is particularly bad in that respect.

The fact that it contains pseudoephedrine should be enough for anyone with heart rhythm disturbances to avoid it.
