I paid £200 about 2 years ago. I live in South Wales.

I paid £180 to see a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon last year. Then they wanted £400 for a nerve test and £240 for a spine X-ray. My best advice is to proceed with care. Hopefully you could pay for a consultation and then be transferred to the NHS.

I saw Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist in July in Dundee. It cost £200 but purely a consultation. I arranged it as waiting time for NHS was 22 weeks but I did not cancel NHS one and have just had that in for beg of Nov. Very glad I went private as needed answers long before Nov

PS waiting list here now around 28 weeks!

is there an 'appall' button, that is HALF A YEAR. Do they put people on blood thinners while waiting???

I paid £250 for a first appointment then £200 thereafter. That was Harefield in 2012.

Cardiologist is not the answer- you need electrophysiologist. as mentioned anything form £200 upwards.

Good idea if you cannot get seen on NHS soon but only for consultation unless you have very deep pockets.

it's not just the cost of seeing an EP. He/she isn't going to be able to say very much without both an ECG and echo, and for all that I think you would be looking at £600-£700.

That's why you need to take the results of all tests etc with you - Get them from your doctor first.

I have all the reports echo and mri

do you have a video of the echo - the report may or not show all that he needs. Particularly if you were in AF when the echo was done it would give the EP a better picture of what's happening

Typically they will know a lot from experience and what you have given them by way of test results. In fact the report from the echo will tell them most of the things they need to know. The EP will then give an opinion, you can get transferred onto their NHS list and then get your echo.

If the report doesn't tell everything then the radiologist (I think that's what they are called) is not very competent.

I paid £200 in Essex, UK to see an excellent EP and got £50 back through my Simply Health plan (Used to be HSA). Money well spent - he had to spend 30 mins chatting about it rather than NHS 5 and then registered me for his NHS AF Clinic he runs that the NHS doctors didn't even bother mentioning about. Now have access to regular NHS appointments directly with him!
