Best talk to your pharmacist but on no account take anything with Ibuprophen in. I'm sure you know that this is bad for AF and also anticoagulation.

Hi, I make a drink with thyme, honey and lemon (sometimes a bit of ginger too). Place a small teaspoon of thyme into a mug and pour on hot water, allow to steep for at least 10 mins and then strain. Add lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey. I gargle with this then swallow throughout the day and before bed and it really soothes my throat. In between gargling etc I suck medicated sweets, the ones I get come in a black bag, sorry can't remember what they are called but they are nice!

I find if I take this remedy at the onset of a cold or throat infection it lessens and shortens the episode.

Hope this helps.

Jean

If you get this again then select the text that is italics and then press CTRL down (and keep down) and then press I. If you press I again it will toggle back to italics. If you hold CTRL and then press B it will make text bold!!!!

I should have known that really, not so quick minded and am forgetful now. Have used computers since early 80's and used to teach basics.

Well nice to find someone who has been using computers as long as me!!! Somethings you do forget through lack of usage but then things flash back. Mind you in those earlyish days until early 90s you had to use loads of keystrokes and methods that would be considered so long winded now.

You pressed control rather than the space key just before the I which sent the computer into italics.

Yep, sounds like the sort of thing I'd do. Thank you.

Gargle with diluted TCP

Hopey profile image

I probably sound stupid for asking but what is TCP

sportscoach profile image
sportscoach in reply toHopey

TCP is a mild anticeptic produced in France it is available at all chemists and supermarkets...just make sure you dilute it.

Google it and it will go into more detail for you.

My athletes use it at the first signs of a cold/flu etc as most cold viruses start in the throat.

We have to be careful what an athlete takes due to strict drug testing rules these days in sport ...TCP does a great job without having to be swallowed and there is no danger of performance enhancing drugs being taken into the body...hope that helps.

Ha! My dear old Dad used to swear by TCP. Any sign of a sore throat and out would come the bottle and a small amount would be added to hot water to gargle. He used it for many others things too.

I gargle with diluted TCP too, or warm salt water. Any drink with honey in it can soothe the throat - mine is honey and hot milk.

Just to add to my previous post we also use Manuka honey as a natual preventative this honey has huge benefits if you research its qualities it is also recognised in medical circles ask any gastroenterologist

Be careful if you are diabetic because of the sugar content and its quite expensive for the better quality +10 and above.
