Steve. Thank you so much for posting Dr Gupta's videos. This one is a really interesting view of anticoagulation prior to cardiovertion. Genius.
Thank you . Very interesting as usual . I still can't decide w hether I should stay with warfarin or not though! I've been on it over 13 years and self test. I don't really find it a problem. I eat as much green veg as I want........adjust my dose more in the brussel sprout season. Alcohol is not a problem as I can't take more than one G & T or glass of wine. It's really just the thought of the increased likelihood of inter cranial bleed that would concern me. Shall speak to my EP about this next month.
Very interesting. Just about to go off the clinic for blood test in light of changing my anticoagulation from Dabigatran to Warfarin as suggested by my Cardiologist. In the copy of the letter he sent to my GP he said because of Mitral Stenosis I should change to Warfarin but said ' see what patient thinks'. I know Dabigatran is not licensed for valvular disease but I've been taking it for over two years.
Muscadet,
If you are going to learn why warfarin is preferred for valvular disease and maybe even before electric cardioversion, I am very interested to hear, if there is any real biological mechanism byond or is it just an official authority thing. That is, if warfarin is really a better drug in some situations.
