Chest sore

I recently had an AF episode that lasted 14 hours but it started shortly before bedtime and was mild so slept good but next morning woke up and was still in A Fib. But after I went back into NSR I found that my chest was sore and still is 12 hours later. Is this normal?

Hi I can only go from my own experience so this may or may not help! Pre ablation I had runs of AF that lasted from hrs up to 7 days . By day 4 I would get chest pain and general chest soreness .( but I do also have coronary disease and a stent) on one occasion I went to A&E as the chest pain was so troublesome and the cardiologist gave me digoxin to lower my pulse to under 100 as he thought that the chest pain was directly related to length of the AF and the consistent high pulse and he said " if you keep your pulse under 100 when in AF the chest pain will go away"  ! for me I found his advice to be true.(All the other tests ruled out an MI also). Obviously you shouldn't ignore chest pain and should check with a doctor if concerned but for me chest discomfort even after the AF ceased if I'd had  the AF longer than a few hours was a symptom of my AF .( of course I got a cardiologist to verify that 😀)  hope this helps x

Thanks. You never know what the chest discomfort means. I was diagnosed with A fib in 2014 and this was the first time that I had any chest soreness. Up until this episode that lasted 14 hours my AF episodes were never longer than a couple hours.

General rule is any chest PAIN should be investigated. If you just feel a bit of an ache it is probably the AF as some people do  have some chest discomfort with AF.

Thanks. Since it was only soreness and not actual pain I figured it might just be normal.

I seem to get a lot of soreness in my chest. Saw the consultant last week and ECG was fine. It only lasts for a a hour or so then goes. I sometimes get it when i have had a longish bike ride so could be muscle pain with me.

One the note of exercising with AF the consultant said ride as fare and as much as I like. He was a cyclist and said it's the best exercise you can do..Saying that he could be bias lol

I had walked an extra mile that day so my chest soreness could have been muscle pain also. I worry a lot more about unusual pain or discomfort since I found out I have A Fib. I heard that yoga was good so I am trying to find a yoga class near me now.
