Well had my teeth done yesterday. I didn't stop taking Apixaban. I took with me the NICE guidelines and said I didn't want to stop. Outcome she got on with it and no excessive bleeding or any problem at all.
One dentist with a bit more understanding and she won't say blood thinners anymore.

I have quarterly descaling at my dentist and have had extensive dental work done all without stopping my anticoaglation. My dentist is aware of my af issues and medications. When I need anaesthetic he ensures I am given one which does not contain adrenalin.
Never heard him refer to my anticoagulant as blood thinner so he seems well read.
No problems with my routine dental cleanings. Dentist said he would only recommend change in anti-coagulant schedule if I had a major procedure.
