Nasty episode of AF.

I woke this morning at 4.30am and realised I was in AF. After getting up around 7.30am my heart was still out of rhythm. At about 9.30am, l began to get light headed. Knowing what could be in store, I got on the floor and lay flat and shouted the wife to come and lift my legs to about 45 degrees, as was told by the doctor. My wife decided after a short time, to get the BP monitor. My first reading was 73 over 49, with a pulse of 49. This stayed at a similar reading for about 20 minutes. Trying to sir up, I still felt light headed and returned to my original position. After another 10 minutes BP and pulse was beginning to rise and I decided to sit in my chair. Now much improved. I blacked out last time and my wife called 999. We now know what to do. I hope sharing this it will help other sufferers'. I go tomorrow to have a 7 day ECG recorder fitted. I hope I go back into AF over the next week.

How awful for you. I do hope you feel better very soon and bavk in nsr. Here's hoping your monitor shows the cause of your symptoms during the week.

Take care and rest.

Very very interesting. This really is a great way to share feelings, ideas and tips. On the odd occasion when in AF I realise that things are going to change very quickly and everything seems to crash and twice I ended up a bit of a drooling mess on the floor unable to form words. This is a great suggestion. I have asked doctors for advice on what to do rather than call an ambulance, and have been offered a "pill-in-a-pocket" Solotol Sandos but when you already have low blood pressure, this is not an optimum choice for me. This is the first realistic advice I have been offered. You have definitely helped someone out today.

I am so pleased I have been of help to you. It is quite frightening and when it happens, panic's the people around you. Good luck RetaMay.
