Hi Everyone, having gone back into PAF again my Dr referred me to see a Cardiologist, he was great and changed my medication and short term has booked me in for another Cardioversion, long term I am being referred to Plymouth for an Ablation, its great to have a plan, I can't wait to get my life back on track, hopefully will not have to wait too long for my Cardioversion.

I have been told there is a waiitng list for Ablation, what should I expect when I have my treatment please, this AF is all new to me as it started early June this year, thanks for reading....

Good to have a plan but let me assure you that you have been pretty fast tracked so far. Waiting lists vary greatly so don't be too impatient. Your sentiment of wanting your life back is common to so many of us early in our AF journey. It is also from my experience not that helpful . All I would say is that you still have your life although not quite as it was so please do not waste it wanting the past as there are no guarantees in life. Quality of life is what matters and for the most part that is what we make of it. AF is in your life but not all of it is a good mantra.

As far as what to expect, there is a very good publication on the main AF Association website on all types of ablation so that would be a good start for you. Don't be put off by all the nasty bits that could go wrong as these are very very rare. I had three before my AF went but my life is still not as it was . I am however ten years older now and been through cancer as well in the last five years so it would be slightly strange to say the least if it was.

Enjoy every day as if it was your last as one day you will be right is my motto.

Thanks for your reply Bob, the Cardiologist told me on Monday that the waiting list for Ablation at Plymouth is 6 months and at Bristol I believe he said 18 months', unfortunately the RD&E do not do Ablation yet. Sorry to hear you've not been well Bob I do hope things are looking better for you now. Hubby took me out for a drive along the North Devon Coastline to Bude after my appointment on monday, the sea was quite wild when we got to there, well worth the journey!

Sorry to hear of your problems. I had an ablation at the RD and E hospital in July this year by Matthew Lovell for SVT. At my 3 month check up I was told that they hope to have Arrythmia nurses there by November. May be worth finding out more if this hospital is more convenient for you as found the care and procedure was excellent there!

Thanks for your reply whizy, will certainly mention this to my Dr, hopefully the RD&E might be up and running by the time I come to having an ablation next year....
